Brisbane captain Lynn leapfrogged Perth's Michael Klinger to top the BBL's all-time run scorers list on his way to steering the Heat to a six-wicket win over the Scorchers at the Gabba on Friday night.
He thrashed an unbeaten 56 as Brisbane reeled in Perth's 9-128 with 15 balls to spare to ensure the second last Heat remained a mathematical finals chance with two games left.
Lynn arrived at the crease trailing Perth veteran Klinger's 1917 run record by just 29 but quickly eclipsed the mark by peeling off three fours and four sixes in a sparkling 39-ball knock.
Klinger could only watch on from the Gabba sidelines as Lynn overtook him on the all-time list after being overlooked for the BBL clash.
Former Australian cricket star Symonds reckons Lynn is now on course to set a BBL run scoring record that no one will catch - as long as the 28-year-old's recurring shoulder complaints does not stop the master blaster's big-hitting ways.
Lynn has endured a long injury history with his left shoulder alone operated on three times.
"Chris Lynn has still got plenty of time," Fox Sports commentator Symonds said.
"The biggest thing for him will be staying fit with those shoulders of his as he gets older.
"That will be the only thing that stops him from going down as the greatest ever (BBL) Twenty20 run-scorer."
Former Australian wicket-keeper Ian Healy agreed that Lynn was just getting warmed up.
"He can get double that (Klinger's 1917) to around four or five thousand at least," he told Fox Sports.
Lynn typically surpassed Klinger's mark by tonking Perth seamer Andrew Tye into the stands.
And he repeated the feat to bring up Brisbane's winning runs in the 18th over.
Lynn notched his fourth BBL half century of the season - and 16th overall - to take his season tally to 385 runs, well short of league leaders Hobart openers D'Arcy Short (567) and Matthew Wade (487).
Still, Heat seamer Josh Lalor said he knew which player he preferred to have in his side.
"D'Arcy Short is probably the form batsmen at the moment but Lynny's record speaks for itself," Lalor said.
"Our cricket is built on how Chris plays which is making the opposition uncomfortable - he's a big ace we have up our sleeve every game."
Lynn's heroics were only rivalled by Lalor (3-23) who earlier claimed only the BBL's fourth hat-trick.
