The City of Mandurah is owed nearly $3 million in unpaid rates.
City of Mandurah annual reports show there were $2,943,000 outstanding rates in the 2017/18 financial year, down from $4,012,000 the previous year.
Nine years ago, there was $852,000 in outstanding rates.
City of Mandurah chief executive Mark Newman said the city had approximately 45,000 ratepayers.
“Each year we generally issue about 230 summons for payment and have not seized or sold property for more than 15 years,” he said.
Mr Newman said the value of outstanding rates is standard if not better for the current cycle.
“The city offers a variety of payment options for ratepayers finding it difficult to pay on time and only we use a debt collection agency or take possession of properties as a last resort,” he said.
