The captain dismantled the opposition batting order with the ball before posting a stellar 74 runs – supported by 68 from Chris Zadow – to ensure Peel would end their carnival on a high as they cruised past Albany’s total with eight wickets left in hand.
Batting first, Albany’s second group wasn’t able to match the performance of their premiership-winning first stringers as Peel’s bowlers (led by Wright) enjoyed success.
Things couldn’t have started worse for Albany after opener Craig Tonkin was run out for a diamond duck, followed closely by the dismissals of Alexander Fergie (5) and Matthew Ferreira (9).
Batsman Dan Robson did what he could to haul the side out of their 3/19 slump with a half century, but even his 50 couldn’t undo the damage of a disastrous collapse late in the innings.
Eventually Albany were sent packing with 163 runs to their name, thanks in large to strong bowling from Wright (4/24) and Mitchell Smith (3/70).
Peel’s run chase looked off to its own worrisome start when openers Andrew Peckover (4) and Ben Doudle (9) were dismissed early, but Wright and Zadow found a rhythm at the crease.
The duo compiled a partnership of 134 runs to steer Peel past Albany’s total and to a win on their final day of play.
C-grade
Peel’s second stringers also enjoyed a successful final day of play, taking down Busselton-Margaret River with a strong run chase.
The Busselton-Margaret River outfit lasted their 20 overs, with Matty Braid scoring 61 before he was done leg-before-wicket by Jordan Bell to lead them to 5/165.
It was a steep chase for the Peel side, but they managed to narrowly edge past their opponent’s to post 7/171 on their way to a victory.

PCA 4
The PCA’s fourths claimed the D-grade premiership with a powerful win – led by some excellent bowling – over Geraldton in their grand final on Friday.
Nicholas Ranford (5/25), Brad Ranford (3/2) and Mitchell Searston (2/2) were remarkable with the ball, cleaning up Geraldton’s entire order for a measly 36 runs.
The trio caused total chaos for the opposing batsmen, sending six of them back to the pavilion with ducks next to their name.
The chase was a simple one for Peel, with Ray Schuller’s 16 runs sparking their victory in eight overs.
PCA 3
Things didn’t go quite as well for Peel’s thirds on their final day of play, as they struggled in a loss to Lakes.
Batting first, Lakes made their way to an impressive 176 despite some outstanding bowling from Peel’s Jarrad Berwick (3/14).
The PCA’s thirds started their chase on the wrong foot when Louis Baker went down on a duck, with regular wickets falling around him.
Louis Unuwai put up 26 runs in an effort to spark his side but they were eventually sent packing on 75.
E-grade
Peel’s fifths fell victim to Newman in their final game of the carnival.
Choosing to bat first, scoring runs didn’t come easy for Peel with Newman’s Brad Roe (4/12) absolutely dominant with the ball.
Jacob Kamen posted 22 runs for the PCA but his team-high knock wasn’t enough to see them to a strong position, as they were dismissed on 64 in the 14th over.
Chris Scheu posted 51 runs for Newman in their chase, as they hunted down the required runs before declaring.
