The City of Mandurah hosted their annual Australia Day celebrations on Saturday morning, with hundreds turning out for the national holiday event.
Mandurah welcomed 85 new citizens on Saturday morning as part of the Australia Day ceremony, from a range of cultural backgrounds including Ireland, Italy, USA, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Peru.
Families filled the foreshore for the Lions Club of Mandurah breakfast before recognising citizens who have made a positive contribution to the community over the last year.

Mandurah City freeman and local elder Harry Nannup did the Welcome to Country before this year’s Australia Day Ambassador, Jeffrey Effendi, addressed the crowd.
Born in Jakarta, Mr Effendi is a social entrepreneur and humanitarian and a 2018 WA Young Australian of the Year Finalist. He was just seven years old when his Chinese-Indonesian family fled the country’s mass race riots, leaving him with a deep understanding that stories can change the lens in which people are perceived in society.
Mandurah MP David Templeman emceed the event for his 28th year in a row.
