Pinjarra-based charity Homestead For Youth have been given a helping hand following their call for funds last year to keep their farm gates open.
The charity, which aims to reduce suicide in young people through the provision of horse therapy, were donated a significant roof top solar installation from Synergy last week through the Synergy Community Solar Fund.
The installation will help the the equine therapy organisation to manage its energy costs, unlocking funds for its important programs and offering a chance to expand their critical recovery support services.
Homestead For Youth offers therapy sessions and workshops, integrated with horsemanship, to provide support in recovery from trauma, addiction and mental health issues.

It also provides residential stay programs for individuals who require more intensive therapy and long-term support.
Member for Murray-Wellington Robyn Clarke said the roof-top solar donation would assist Homestead For Youth to continue to deliver its valuable services back to the local community.
“We know the difference that Homestead For Youth makes in giving hope to young people who are suffering, so we are thrilled that through Synergy there is a way to provide ongoing costs savings for the organisation,” Ms Clarke said.
Synergy acting chief executive officer Angie Young said the organisation was proud to provide a roof-top solar system to help the centre bring down its running costs.
“Synergy’s Community Solar Fund is designed to help important community organisations deliver even greater community benefits, by realising the savings possible from renewable energy and enabling them to re-invest these savings into valuable projects,” Ms Young said.
Homestead For Youth co-founder Carla Fadelli said the long-term reduction in running costs will free up all-important funds for expansion and provide an increase in homestay options at the 150 acre farm.
“Support from the Synergy Community Solar Fund not only strengthens the sustainability of these much needed programs but the sustainability of stronger youth and stronger communities,” Ms Fadelli said.
“For our clients, we are often the difference between having hope for the future and either prison, life on the streets or families suffering together in silence.”
Synergy has awarded six solar systems to local charities and is supporting a further 58 with free energy audit and energy-saving recommendations. Collectively, the recipients have the potential to save up to $50,000 per annum on their energy bills.
