With the 21st annual Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest quickly approaching, the City of Mandurah are calling for volunteers to help coordinate and run activities over the weekend.
The biggest free community event in Western Australia will be held on March 16-17, 2019.
Crab Fest attracts more than 120,000 locals and visitors to the Peel region and it takes around 120 volunteers each year to run the festivities without a hitch.
City of Mandurah Deputy Mayor Caroline Knight said she was “extremely grateful” for the outstanding job volunteers do every year.
“Volunteers are the unsung heroes and help with a variety of jobs before, during and after the event,” she said.
“For an event the size of Crab Fest to run smoothly, it is a massive team effort involving City staff, volunteers and local businesses.”

Mandurah local John Pszcola has been volunteering at Crab Fest for 10 years.
He said volunteering for the Crab Fest was to do “common good” for the local community.
“Playing a small part helping the team at the City of Mandurah is rewarding and a way of thanking them for being a great place to live,” Mr Pszcola said.
“It’s also a great way to meet people and I encourage the community to participate.
“One of my favourite memories is being part of a flash dance about three years ago.”
This year’s Crab Fest will feature more than 100 hours of entertainment including cooking demonstrations, live music, performances, children’s entertainment and celebrities.
There will also be plenty of old favourites, fresh food, competitions and lots of blue manna crabs.
