A local Mandurah business had a close call with a vehicle fleeing from police on Saturday morning.
The car crashed into a fence at the Hip Pocket Mandurah uniform shop on Park Road at 10.25am on November 17.
Police say they approached the vehicle, believed to be driving with stolen number plates, just before 10am.
The car was parked in a car park with a male and female inside.
As police arrived, the car allegedly took off at speed, drove up a ramp, became airborne and crashed into a fence.
There was one male in the vehicle at the time. He ran from the area but was quickly located.
CCTV footage at the shop captured the car getting airborne at speed through the staff car park before crashing.
Business owner Jane Tomlinson said her employees heard a “loud bang” before going outside to investigate.
“The driver ran across the front of the shop fleeing from the car,” she said.
“He went and hid under the bins behind Pet City next door.
“They damaged the water main and kerbing and the fence [in the crash], which only just got repaired three months ago.”

Mrs Tomlinson said she was glad they had CCTV footage at the shop to witness the erratic event.
“When I first watched the footage I wondered how he had last control, but then I saw how fast he was going and he had gotten airborne,” she said.
“We’re happy to have been able to assist police.
“We’re glad no one else got hurt and no other cars were damaged.”
