Not-for-profit organisations, associations and groups in the Shire of Murray requiring funding assistance to aid service delivery, host an event or strengthen community capacity, are encouraged to submit applications as part of round two of the 2018/19 Community Assistance Partnership Fund.
The fund, a partnership between Alcoa and the Shire of Murray, invites applications three times each financial year with round two closing on December 31 for projects commencing after February 28, 2019.
According to shire president David Bolt, not-for-profit organisations perform a fundamental role within the district and it is vital that funding is available to build and strengthen their capacity, in turn facilitating sustainable service delivery.
“Through the fund, not-for-profits can apply for up to $3,000 each financial year,” he said.

“Not-for-profits that received funding in round one can apply for further funding in round two, providing the total grant request does not exceed the $3,000 limit per entity per annum.”
Projects must align with the Shire’s Murray 2025 Strategic Community Plan, by fulfilling a community need whilst supporting the district’s strategic direction.
Several festive season event applications were successful in round one. These included the North Pinjarra Progress Association’s Community Christmas Party and its Seniors Christmas Dinner, Coolup Progress Association’s Annual Community
Christmas Party, Ravenswood Community Group’s Christmas in the Park, South Yunderup Residents and Ratepayers Association’s Carols by the Canals and the Pinjarra Railway Association’s Christmas Market.
Other successful round one initiatives included the Austin Cove Community Church’s Summer Holiday Program, Bindjareb Murray Darts Association’s Q School, Lions Club of Pinjarra’s Australia Day Breakfast, North Pinjarra Progress Association’s Official Playground Opening and Rotary Club of Pinjarra’s Youth Bicycle Shed.
“The Fund aims to ensure the vibrancy, health and inclusivity of Murray communities by way of assisting not-for-profit community groups, associations and organisations to continue the invaluable work they perform.” Cr Bolt said.
