Six different Peel-based sporting organisations are set to share in more than $72,500 worth of funding thanks to the state government’s Regional Grants Scheme.
The Mandurah Hockey Stadium, Peel District Football Development Council, Peel Region Soccer Council, Peel Cricket Board and local legs of the Western Australian Basketball Federation and Netball WA will all receive a boost from the scheme, which aims to support grassroots sports.
The grants will support athlete development and help to ensure the clubs remain the cornerstones of their communities.
Mandurah MLA David Templeman said the grants would help ensure the Peel region continues to develop promising young athletes.
“Our local sporting clubs bring players, spectators and the community together to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of social sport,” he said.
“These grants will give our athletes better opportunities while delivering benefits far beyond the playing field.
“The Peel region has a rich history of producing sporting champions and I want to ensure our community has the resources to develop the next crop.”
