A young Mandurah netball gun, who hopes to represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games, says players should be paid the same as AFL athletes.
Ella Sigley’s future is on her mind after graduating from Mandurah Catholic College on Friday.
The 17-year-old, whose goal is to play for the Australian Diamonds, said she will always have to work two jobs – even if her dreams come true.
It would be so hard to balance two lives, while trying to perform your highest possible at both.

“You need to have another job in netball because it doesn’t pay enough,” she said.
“The money has been getting better, but it’s still not enough to live off like AFL players.”
Ella believes netball athletes should be paid more, considering it is “the number one women’s sport in Australia”.
“They train every day, but still have to have a side job,” she said.
“I don’t understand why that is.

Ella plans to study sports science at university and eventually become a physical education teacher.
