Set up has started at King Carnival on Mandurah’s western foreshore for this year’s Screamfest.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 27 with two separate sessions of varying scare factors.
Event manager, and professional scarer, David Ipock said there’s something for everyone at this year’s Halloween celebration.

“The first session is more family friendly and aimed at the kids, but adults will still enjoy themselves,” he said.
“The staff go a little harder trying to scare people at the night time session – they’ll be at their full monster levels with more blood and we get closer to people and the maze itself will be darker.”
With seven years experience behind him, Mr Ipock said there’s nothing quite like getting dressed up and making people jump and their hearts race.
“When you’re a monster in the maze scaring people, there’s no other job like it,” he said.
“There’s a technique to scaring – how to move, where to move, how to get people and when to wait, the noises you make, timings.
“The staff are super excited. Most of them have done it before so we’ve got some experienced monsters on hand and they’re ready to scare.”
With planning in the works for more than six months now, the festival will take two weeks to set up with preparations well under way now.
The event will be jam packed with things to do including scary face painting, magicians, carnival rides, roaming ghouls and an escape room.
The main attraction is Perth’s biggest walk through haunt attraction The Summoned – enter if you dare.
There will also be prizes for best costume and the winners of the karaoke and mini golf competitions.
