Excitement is building ahead of the inaugural Western Australian Pro Surf Series, which is set to commence with the Mandurah Pro in the coming days.
The World Surf League (WSL) sanctioned men’s and women’s Qualifying Series event has attracted surfers from six different nations – as well as a host of surfers from right across Australia to compete for a total prize pool of $15,000 and all import WSL QS ratings points.
The top seeded male surfer for the event is Jacob Willcox (Margaret River, WA) who is looking to build some momentum before heading away for another Hawaiian winter.

He will come up against local Mandurah wildcard, 12-year-old Macklin Flynn (Dawesville, WA) in the second round of competition.
Former Championship Tour surfer Claire Bevilacqua (Italy) will be the top seeded female in the Mandurah Pro and is rapt to have multiple WSL QS events coming up in Western Australia.
“I've been hoping for a QS event at Yallingup my whole career,” said Bevilacqua.
“To have two world class events in our home state is a true blessing and I'm excited to see what Mandurah will bring.”
