Anita Brown has been nothing short of phenomenal in her first season with the Mandurah Magic, leading the State Basketball League in points per game and throwing up her hand as an MVP candidate.
But there’s nothing she’d like more than to bring a championship back to Mandurah.
The all-star guard has formed a close bond with her Magic teammates in her six-month stint here, and said she’s hoping to repay the faith with a title.
“My teammates, the club, the whole city has been so welcoming to me and made me feel so at home,” she said.
“I know they’ve been trying to get that first championship for a while now, and I want to be a part of that.
“To give something back to a place that’s given so much to me would mean a lot.”
More on the Magic:
Hailing from Ohio in the States, Brown has become an integral part of Mandurah’s starting line-up, and she’s hoping to keep her outstanding form rolling for the grand final.
“I just like to stay focused before big games, keep my mind on the goal and play the way I like to play,” she said.
“We know Lakeside are a great team but I’m pretty confident we can go out there and get the job done.”
Throughout her college days with the University of Akron Zips Brown was known for showing up in big games.
She scored a career-high 37 points to lead Akron past Toledo in overtime and scored 28 points in the second half to will her side over Northern Kentucky.
The superstar will be hoping to bring that same mentality to Mandurah’s grand final on Friday night.
