A handful of Mandurah’s finest pool players have been selected to Western Australia’s 8-ball teams after impressing mightily at the state trials.
Holly-Jane Vaaelua (state women’s), Michelle Francis (women’s), Stone Stenhouse (men’s), Rocky Hammond (men’s) and Jack Hunter (masters) all made their way to state teams on the back of impressive performances over the recent weeks.
The five all represent Mandurah’s Miss Q’s Pool and Entertainment Centre, but will be trading their local shirts for WA’s black and gold as they help the state take on the rest of Australia.
Vaaelua, 14, makes her way to the side after yet another amazing year on the tables for the young star.
She recently finished third overall in the state trials, earning herself a spot on the WA women’s team alongside fellow Miss Q’s member Francis, who qualified for the first time.
The 19-year-old Stenhouse will enjoy a similar milestone, after making the state men’s squad for the first time.
The past star junior will be joined by fellow first-timer Hammond, who earned his position by topping the Super League Stats winning the gold medal spot, the most prestigious award in WA League Pool.
Hunter, who has recently rejoined the ranks at Miss Q’s following a stint living in South Australia, had a sensational run at the trials topping the masters division.
