‘Speed dating’ of a different kind was on the agenda for Pinjarra Senior High School girls recently, as they discussed their interests and ambitions with Alcoa mentors.
More than 40 female students took part in the ‘speed careering’ event which highlighted the diverse jobs on offer for women at Alcoa’s operations.
It was part of Alcoa’s 2018 Pinjarra Prospect Program – an interactive student mentoring program for girls in years 10 and 11.
Students were introduced to different career ideas, built networks with Alcoa employees from various job roles at the Pinjarra Alumina Refinery and heard career stories from the Alcoa representatives, who provided insights into their professions.
“It’s important to encourage young female students to consider the various careers that Alcoa offers locally. I enjoyed providing insight into my personal journey, commencing as a recruitment consultant and now working as an HR and community relations consultant at the Pinjarra refinery,” Sarah Parsons said.
