Baldivis midfielder Brendan Tingey has earned the gong as the WA Country Football League’s (WACFL) player of the week following his blistering performance against Rockingham in round five on Saturday.
Tingey was instrumental in the Brumbies’ thrilling five-point victory over the second-placed Rams, winning a bunch of clearances and laying a game-saving tackle in the dying minutes with Rockingham storming back into the contest.
His efforts helped Baldivis keep their unbeaten start to 2018 alive, as the side made it five straight wins including two over the Rams and another over reigning premiers Pinjarra.
The award is a statewide accolade, recognising the best player in Western Australia’s country football sector over the weekend.
Tingey now goes in the running to win the WACFL’s West Coast Poly player of the year award, with a trip for two to this year’s AFL grand final up for grabs.
The midfielder has been in a star in the Peel Football and Netball League across the opening rounds of the year, following on from a season that saw him claim a bundle of Ross Elliot Medal votes.
He will look to continue his hot form when Baldivis take on Mandurah this weekend.
