A pair of Next Generation MMA Mandurah fighters will be out to make their impact known when they step into the cage as part of the Eternal 34 fight card in Perth later this month.
Anthony Drilich has made a name for himself as one of Australia’s best up and coming bantamweight prospects and will look to continue ascending the ranks with a victory, while gym mate Tyhren Westrheim will search for a win in his debut bout.
Drilich will take to the octagon looking to add to his unbeaten record after picking up wins in his first two fights.
The gun fighter has his eyes firmly fixed on breaking into the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the near future, but will need to take care of business against opponent Michael Mannu first.
The Melbourne-based fighter boasts a 3-1 record through his first four bouts, having picked up wins via submission in his previous two clashes.
But Drilich said he was feeling good ahead of the showdown.
“I’ve been preparing for the fight for the last few months so really I’m just looking forward to getting into it at this point,” he said.
“It’s all part of the process of getting to the UFC. Right now it’s about getting noticed, so the more wins I can get the better.
“Hopefully I can end it pretty quick.”
It’s a different narrative for Westrheim, who steps into the cage for the first time looking for a win against Cody Haddon.
The debut fighter said he was in the right mindset ahead of the clash.
“I feel pretty good, mainly because of the training here [at Next Generation],” he said.
“It’s hard to know what to expect – I just need to go in and do what I’ve been doing in the gym.”
Eternal MMA 34 will be held at the WA Italian Club in Perth on Saturday, May 26.
