A local teacher has received a Western Australian Teacher Librarian of the Year Award, from the School Library Association, for her influence and commitment to education.

At the awards presentation, WA School Library Association’s vice president, Alison Fonseka said librarian Sarah Love was a passionate and dedicated member of the school.
Ms Fonseka said Sarah had experimented with new library spaces including alternative seating, shelves on wheels, relaxed seating and book clubs and pop-up libraries.

“She is a dynamic staff member who influences others around her in a respectful and meaningful way,” she said.
“She regularly attends professional development opportunities and strives to model lifelong learning to students and colleagues.”
Ms Fonseka said Sarah was a member of a school leaders group and shared readings, podcasts and educational information with colleagues.
She said Sarah had also gained knowledge by working in classrooms and libraries across London, Brunei, Bangkok and Australia.
“Sarah is a passionate and dedicated member of Mandurah Catholic College and is a worthy recipient of the Teacher Librarian of the Year Award,” Ms Fonseka said.
