A quartet of Mandurah’s junior surfers made the most of some tough conditions at Geraldton’s Back Beach for the inaugural Frothin’ Fools Gero Grom Fest earlier this month.

April McPherson, Ruby Allen, Macklin Flynn and Neco Higgins all shone at the event, representing Mandurah and surfing their way to podium finishes.
Macklin was in fine form, carving up on his way to taking out first place both the under 15 boys and under 12 boys competition’s, while April made her mark by claiming the under 18 girls title.
Ruby finished on top in the under 15 girls division, while Neco showed off her skills in the water finishing as a finalist in the under nine mixed division.
Overall more than 90 surfers took to the water in Geraldton for the competition’s inaugural installment, with more than $3000 worth of cash and prizes up for grabs.
The young guns will now return to the local breaks.
