Saturday
Swimming WA’s 2018 Country Pennants
Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Saturday, 8.30am-10.30am
A flock of more than 700 eager swimmers from around the state will submerge in the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) pools for Swimming WA’s 2018 Country Pennants meet this weekend.
One of the largest events on the organisation’s calendar, the 59th running of the carnival will see approximately 750 junior and senior swimmers swarm to the city along with almost 2000 expected spectators.
It will be the first time in the Pennants’ history that the event has been held in Mandurah, thanks largely to the MARC’s new state-of-the-art upgrades.

Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah, Saturday – Sunday, 10am-4pm
A Mandurah artist showcased digital prints in his first solo-exhibition, and in turn, has highlighted the way computers have changed the art industry.
With a background in painting, Paul Fleetham said he preferred working online because he liked the “speed of digital”.
“It’s like looking at music on Spotify,” he said. “You don’t have to get a record out – you can skip really quick and go the speed of your brain rather than having to wait for the paint to dry.”
Hot Rod Rumble
Ravenswood Hotel, Saturday, 10am-4pm
The largest South West hot rod show, Hot Rod Rumble, will be back soon for its third year in a row.
Local car enthusiast Tony Edwards and friend Dave Feenstra will bring back the show, following its success last year that saw about 4000 people flood the venue.
The Bridges of Mandurah
Mandurah Community Museum, Saturday and Sunday, 11am-3pm
There’s no doubt that when it comes to bridges, Mandurah has had a pretty interesting history.
Growing up, a lot of our memories revolve around the structures – particularly the old Mandurah Bridge.
This exhibition will allow people to browse photos, objects, memories and learn some interesting facts about the crossing points of Mandurah from Aboriginal times to our newest bridge today.
Peel Premier League T20 finals
Pinjarra Turf, Saturday, 12pm and 3pm
Cricket fans may want to head down to Pinjarra Turf on Saturday, as the Peel Premier League wrap up their T20 tournament.
White Knights Baldivis take on Singleton Irwinians from 12pm, with the winner going on to face Pinjarra in the final at 3pm.
There will also be a biggest hitter and fastest bowler competitions on the day.
Sunday
Aboriginal Youth Sports Super Carnival
Mandurah Netball Association courts and Bendigo Bank Stadium, Sunday, 9am-12pm
Hundreds of young footballers and netballers will converge on Mandurah for the Aboriginal Youth Sports Super Carnival this weekend.
The event will see Netball WA hold their annual Aboriginal Youth Gala Day at the Mandurah Netball Association courts, while footballers will hit the field Bendigo Bank Stadium for the WA Football Commission’s annual Nicky Winmar Youth Boys Carnival.
Monday
WA Open Water Swim Series
Town Beach, Monday, 8am
Hundreds of long-distance swimmers will converge on Mandurah’s Town Beach for round 10 of Swimming WA’s Open Water Series on Monday.
Competitors will take on distances of 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km and 5km in the penultimate round of the series.
The sport of open water swimming has grown exponentially across Western Australia in recent years, with the annual Mandurah event becoming more popular each year.
