The mother of slain WA teenager Hayley Dodd wrote a heartfelt letter to her daughter's alleged killer in jail in 2014, just several months after police began a fresh search of his old property for evidence.
Margaret Dodd posted the letter in full on social media on Monday, shortly after news broke that Francis John Wark, 61, would be appealing his murder conviction.
Mrs Dodd sent the letter to Wark, who was in a Queensland jail at the time, in January 2014.
"Are you going to tell us the location of Hayley, so we can bring our daughter home...surely that is not to much to ask of you," the letter read.
Last month Wark was found guilty of luring 17-year-old Hayley into his car in WA's Wheatbelt region in 1999, murdering her, before disposing of her body which has never been found.
The 61-year-old showed no emotion as he was found guilty of murdering Hayley in the WA Supreme Court.
In documents lodged with WA's Court of Appeal on Monday, Wark claimed the verdict reached in his judge-alone trial was "unsafe and unsatisfactory".
Wark, who owned a property in Badgingarra near where Hayley disappeared, maintained his innocence throughout the trial.
In November 2013 police descended on Wark's former Badgingarra home looking for evidence linking him to Hayley's disappearance.
But the massive search which lasted for several weeks turned up nothing.
Two months after the search began Mrs Dodd wrote to Wark in prison, who was then serving a 12-year sentence for abducting and raping a hitchhiker in Queensland.
"Dear Frank," the letter began.
"I hope you don't mind me referring to you by your Christian name, writing this letter is extremely difficult for me, but I feel I have no choice but to do so.
"After thinking you were in the clear for 14 years, it must have come as a shock to be found out.
"I am fully aware of what the police have, and the case they intend to build against you, but this is not at the top of my agenda. Bringing my daughter Hayley home is and the only thing that is important to me.
"Can I just remind you that Hayley was not quite a woman yet, she was an innocent 17-year-old teenager, a trusting and gentle soul who would do no one harm.
"I shall not describe the pain and suffering that has been inflicted on our family by Hayley's disappearance, murder and forever searching for her remains.
"All we want is to bring our daughter home were she belongs. Trusting I hear from you soon, and you tell us were Hayley is."
After Wark was given a minimum 21 year sentence for Hayley's murder, Mrs Dodd spoke outside the Supreme Court, reiterating her calls for Wark to reveal where he had buried Hayley.
"He's 61, the same age as me... we've already served 18-and-a-half years, he's only just going to begin," she said.
"I'm happy with the sentence but we need him to tell us where Hayley is.
"As far as we know, he's not speaking... like all cowards do."
The appeal continues.
