Carcoola Primary School’s new fitness track is taking shape.
Organisers have tipped its completion for after a busy-bee on November 18.
The school started the project after the small community of Pinjarra, around 20 kilometres from Mandurah, was voted Australia’s fattest town in an online survey.
Australia’s Health Tracker released data in November 2016 that revealed 76 per cent of Pinjarra residents are overweight or obese.
Determined to remove the labels that came with being dubbed the plumpest population, the school decided to put their heads together and create an open fitness track.
The new multi-functional space is aimed to combat the chunky title and will provide a base to introduce school programs that shed light on the importance of a health lifestyle.

The precinct includes a playground, fitness track, games, art works and an orchard.
The North Pinjarra school has received positive feedback and their busy-bees have been well attended by students, parents, staff and the broader community.
Teacher and organiser Andrew Batten said it was an exciting time for the school.
“We came up with it to keep kids busy. It’ll be active and entertaining,” he said.
He said without ongoing community support the mammoth project wouldn’t have been able to come to fruition.
The fitness track has been installed around the outside of the school oval and is around 500 metres long.
Mr Batten thanked DeGrey Civil for donating concrete pipes, Murray Engineering who donated the shaping of the steel jumps, Midalia Steel for donating steel for the playground and Miti Trees in North Dandalup who donated trees.
The next busy-bee will held at the school on November 18. For more information on how you can get involved call the school on 9531 1399 or visit their website.
