Mandurah Detectives have charged a third man in relation to a terrifying carjacking in which a Mandurah City councillor was threatened with a weapon and forced to drive around Mandurah before being dumped in Silver Sands.

On the evening of August 28, North Ward councillor Caroline Knight was walking to her vehicle after a meeting at the City of Mandurah offices on Mandurah Terrace when she was approached by two men.
The pair threatened Ms Knight, forcing her to drive them along Peel Street and Anstruther Road before asking her to get out of the car at Silver Sands Beach carpark.

A police spokesperson said a 31-year-old man from Waroona had been charged with aggravated robbery, deprivation of liberty and stealing a motor vehicle.
He was due to appear in court on Friday, September 22.
On August 30 police said they had charged a 38-year-old man with no address with deprivation of liberty, aggravated robbery, stealing a motor vehicle and possessing a prohibited weapon.
A 39-year-old man from Mandurah was assisting police in the investigation and was arrested on a return to prison warrant and a police spokesperson said it was likely charges relating to the incident would be preferred at a later date.
