A Mandurah man who pleaded guilty to stealing valuables from a Service Street property during a burglary has been remanded in custody to face sentencing next month.
Clint James McNamara, 27, appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to home burglary and stealing offences committed on August 30.
The court was told McNamara broke in to the Mandurah home through a bathroom window between 1 and 4pm.
He rummaged through the occupant’s bedroom and stole items including three watches, two small gold nuggets and earrings valued at $6530.
Identified as the offender via fingerprint matching, McNamara was arrested on September 11.
Counsel for McNamara said her client had issues with methamphetamine and had been using the drug that day.
She said he stole the items to pay off a debt and had been in a “desperate” situation.
The lawyer also said McNamara, a former FIFO worker for BHP, had “blown his opportunity” to work for the company in the future, but he did have skills as a rapper and MC.
The police prosecutor said while McNamara had no criminal record in Western Australia, he had an extensive criminal history interstate.
A pre-sentence report was ordered prior to McNamara’s sentencing date on October 13.
