The amendment rezones 120 hectares of land on Lakes Road, Nambeelup from rural to industrial use.
LandCorp chief executive Frank Marra said while the land represented slightly more than 10 per cent of the total area earmarked for the Peel Business Park, the parcel was particularly important as part of it would be used for the first lots in the estate to be developed for sale.
“Once fully developed, the Peel Business Park will be an innovative agricultural business hub and sustainable industrial zone expected to create around 2000 jobs and inject around $1 billion into the economy per annum,” Mr Marra said.
“The industrial zoning provides greater security for businesses looking to service the Peel and surrounding regions from new facilities in Nambeelup, and grows the value of new utility infrastructure extensions recently announced by the state government.”
Mr Marra said design work for the park’s first stage is well advanced, and the Peel Business Park will be established with all the essentials that businesses need to flourish including water, sewer, power, gas and telecommunications.
“LandCorp is working throughout the State to develop land for long-term, sustainable jobs and provide companies with new opportunities for growth in agriculture and other industries,” he said.
“Expressions of Interest (EOI) in Peel Business Park are open for forward thinking businesses.
“The estate is being developed with a focus on agri-business, light and general industry, research and development, and transport and logistics to encourage and support long-term investment and economic diversification in the Peel.”
The information gathered during the EOI process will help guide the estate design and delivery to ensure the best possible outcomes for industry.
