Primary schools students from the Murray region teamed up on Friday morning to make Ravenswood’s George Brook Reserve a little bit greener for National Tree Day.
More than 300 students from Austin Cove Baptist College, Carcoola Primary School, Dwellingup Primary School, North Dandalup Primary School and Riverside Primary School got their hands dirty to plant hundreds of shrubs on the day.
National Tree Day was an initiative created by environmental organistion Planet Ark in 1996 as part of a national campaign to promote community tree planting through schools, local councils and community groups.
Since starting more than two decades ago, the initiative has seen more than 23 million trees being planted across Australia.
