Half-Sydney, half-Gold Coast ghetto-dubsters Bootleg Rascal are masters of hip hop infused jams and sonic brews, and have been touring since 2013, gradually building up a strong reputation for their chilled-out, fun loving take on dub.
The burrito-slinging, taco-loving dub monsters also released their first full-length album, Asleep In The Machine, in 2016, and the LP and accompanying title single unleashed the band's strong groove nationally; he album hones in on their mutant ‘dublactic’ hip-hop sounds and hooky song-crafting.
After an immense North America and Canada tour with fellow party pioneers Sticky Fingers, the Rascals are back on home soil, currently working on the follow-up to Asleep in the Machine.
An album which emphasises their melodic knack unique use of looops and explores a recent obsession with 80’s sounds and drum pads, taking cues from Happy Mondays, Bowie and Peter Gabriel, the first taste of it is Love Her Like I Love You, and the decidedly danceable beat keeps the band’s groove going, but with a more hair spray-and-sequins vibe.
The band bring the single to Rollercoaster on August 18, ably supported by The Gusset and Grim Djs.
