Mandurah San Churro will be including mental wellbeing in the menu in June, with customers having the opportunity to double up their churro servings to raise much-needed funds for mental health support services.
The Spanish chocolateria will be holding their third Share a Churros Week from June 6 to June 11, with all proceeds going to anxiety and depression support services organisation Beyondblue.
During the week, customers will be able to double their churros by a $2 donation to Beyondblue, and donation tins will also be placed around the chocolateria for those who wish to give the not-for-profit a hand.
The initiative hopes to encourage residents to leave the house, meet some friends and share some food together for a good cause.
Mandurah San Churro owner Clarisa Revelo said they were excited to be one of the stores taking part in the initiative and encouraged residents to come down to re-connect with their loved ones for a worthy cause.
“For the third year running we are excited to be partnering once again with not-for-profit organisation Beyondblue to raise awareness and funds for anxiety and depression support services,” she said.
San Churro chief Giro Maurici said the initiative raised more than $50,000 last year, and they were proud to be partnering with the organisation again.
“The reason we feel so strongly about this campaign is because San Churro is a destination that facilitates shared social experiences,” Mr Maurici said.
“It encourages people to come together and connect, which as we know is an important part of us all remaining healthy and happy.”
Beyondblue is an Australia-wide not-for-profit organisation that provides information and support to people struggling with mental health, regardless of their age and location.
The organisation hopes to provide people with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect their own mental health, while giving them confidence to support those around them.
They also hope to fight the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and suicide.
