Saltbush is a plant that can be found throughout Australia in almost all Aboriginal lands, and so it represents a common thread between all the different nations of Australian Indigenous peoples.
This shared idea acted as a point of inspiration for the narrative of Saltbush, as well as the contemporary painting, dance and instrumental music that were created by the Aboriginal artists in this production.
A collaboration between acclaimed Italian theatre company TPO, Australian director Jason Cross and a range of diverse Indigenous artists, Saltbush aims to open children’s experience of Indigenous culture and land directly through traditional customs. They are used to interpret and present the natural features of the Australian landscape.
Saltbush heads to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on Friday 21 July and Saturday 22 July. For tickets and more information, go to manpac.com.au or call the Box Office on 9550 3900.
