Year 9 Frederick Irwin student Caitlin Eynon will represent Western Australia at the open women’s National Baseball Championships in April, and was also accepted into the Emeralds Futures program.

Caitlin said it was a huge honour and privilege to be selected to represent her state.
“I am extremely proud of Western Australia’s achievements at nationals in both women’s and men’s baseball,” she said.
Caitlin trains three times a week at Baseball Park in Gosnells with her team, which includes specialist coaching with a pitching coach, a strength and conditioning coach, and batting and fielding coaches.
“My ultimate goal is to play for Australia at a World Cup or represent Australia at the Olympics,” Caitlin said.
Caitlin also plays up to four two-hour games per week and on her days off she likes to practice pitching and batting at home.
Emeralds Futures is a program designed to give Australian female baseballers with the best opportunities to reach their peak performance.
From this Emeralds Futures squad players are selected for the next couple of years to represent Australia.
