Despite a recent decrease on crime in Mandurah, local police have received additional metropolitan police officers to join the local proactive crime team in tackling crime hotspots during February.
According to detective senior sergeant Trevor Troy, the additional officers would increase frontline police presence on the streets and assist in identified crime hotspots.
Mr Troy said detectives are focusing on burglaries, stolen motor vehicles, domestic violence, stealing with violence, drug dealing and serial offenders in an attempt to continue reducing local crime.
“Mandurah detectives continues working closely with the community to bring offenders to justice as quickly as possible to reduce the capacity for them to commit further crimes,” Mr Troy said.
“As a result our local investigation teams have been asked to make greater, more timely, use of CCTV security images provided to us that identifies persons of interest who need to be spoken to.”
Following concerns from local businesses, he said they are also investigating a number of frauds involving stolen credit cards and fake currency.
Mr Troy also reminded residents to keep their windows and doors locked, and to keep car keys, valuables and cash in secure spots.
“Help us help you this summer and be mindful of your home and personal security,” he said.
“Remove, or have your mail and bins brought in while you’re out or away from home, keep your car keys, cash and valuable items secure whether you’re at home or not.”
To report any suspicious behaviour in the area call 131 444, if you can help identify an offender call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
