Pepper Fire extended its lead coming around the break and managed to fight off an admirable challenge from Max Profit to take the victory.
The $11.80 winner provided punters with handsome dividends as it edged out Max Profit and Fire Blaze, which finished in third.
In other racing action, Who’s Got It pulled out a huge upset win in race three.
Paying $45.60 to win on the tote, the hound dashed to victory ahead of shorter-odds dogs Pavel Monelli and Robbie’s Entity.
Impressive Levy also picked up an impressive win against the odds, paying dividends of $13.40 for first.
