Local, emerging artists are intriguing audiences at Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah’s (CASM) first exhibition for 2017, now on display.
CASM’s regular exhibition space has been transformed into six working studio spaces supporting seven Mandurah and Rockingham artists as part of the Open Studio Collective.
The second annual Open Studio Collective features artists including painters Michael Bell and Carmel Sayer, resin artist Trista Campbell, encaustic artist and weaver Helen Coleman, jeweller and photographer Angela Downing, mixed media and powertex artist Ashley Hay, and painter and illustrator Belinda Joynes.
The month-long cooperative will allow the artists to develop concepts, explore new materials and techniques in conjunction with maintaining their regular artist practice.
The public will be able to watch the artists work and join in discussions about their practice.
They will also have the opportunity to purchase original artworks from the artists’ studios or the CASM gift shop and sign up for future practical art workshops.
The Open Studio Collective exhibition is open until February 2 during CASM gallery hours, Wednesday to Sunday from 10am-4pm.
