Absolutely stoked to be bringing kite surfing to Mandurah are Perth-based qualified instructors Martina and Bryan Manning who are in their third season of running Adventure Kiting WA.
Novara Foreshore is their playground, the flat and shallow spot catches heaps of wind and is perfect for teaching and the pair can be found on Dampier Avenue setting up and meeting with clients.
If you're interested in picking up kite surfing as a hobby, classes range from individual two hour sessions to a six hour package for complete newbies to a three day course.
The six hour package entails setting up equipment, understanding wind conditions, basic kite control, employing techniques such as body dragging and power strokes, self rescue and pack down.
The siblings who were both engineers fell in love with kite surfing and decided to start their own kite surfing company three years ago.
"Being a part of the kite surfing community is probably a big part of our love for the sport," Bryan said.
"You can rock up to any beach with your gear, meet a fellow kite surfer and just automatically connect, have someone to talk to and look out for you while you're in the water."
Martina said she enjoyed working with people in a fun and active environment and especially the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life.
"We just love it when people come to their first class and think they can't do it to going woohoo look at me go mid-session," Martina said.
"Sharing in the stoke is probably the best part."
All ages from beginners to advanced are welcome and boards, kites, harnesses, bars, helmets, buoyancy vests and a qualified instructor is provided.
Two hours lessons cost $50pp for a group of four, $100pp for a group of two and $170 for a private session.
The three day course running for two hours each day costs $300pp for a group of two and $450 for a private session.
A groms program running for four days, two hours each day, costs $160pp for both the holiday program and term program.
