The festival is one of Peel’s most popular events for families and children, and offers a wide range of activities for all ages.
Not-for-profit organisation Mandurah Men’s Shed, former Kim’s Toyboys, have contributed to the festival for many years, and just finished putting the finishing touches to their ‘Imagination Station’ for this year’s event.
The station, which consists of a hand-made desk, chairs and attached bookshelf, as well as several toys and stationary items, will be up for grabs at a draw during the festival.
Curious residents can drop by Hog’s Mandurah during school holidays to get a sneak peek of the ‘Imagination Station’ before entering the draw.
The Mandurah Men’s Shed is a group of 30 retirees who use their outstanding woodworking and painting skills to build toys for the children in need.
Every year, during the festival the group provides free toys for the local children, who to put their skills at test by painting and assembling them before taking them home.
Festival attendees will also have the opportunity to buy unique handmade toys at their stall, with all proceedings from sales going towards buying more supplies to create new projects.
This year’s Children’s Festival will be held on October 23, from 10am until 3pm at the eastern foreshore.
