So far she has worked with Lakelands Primary School, the Port Kennedy and Mandurah Girl Guides, Lakelands Playgroup and members of the public during a number of workshops.
On Tuesday this week she visited the year 6 students at Mandurah Baptist College.
“I asked the students to think about the activities they liked doing, and to design an image based on that, but to abstract the image,” Ms Inwood said.
“I didn’t want to come in with a whole idea and just tell the kids what to do, I wanted to see what they would come up with as well.”
The students painted their designs onto wooden tiles that will eventually be mounted in a public space in the community.
She provided them with a limited colour palette so that once mounted, they will tie in together.
MBC primary principal Rob Gratton said the project fit well into their visual arts curriculum, so when Ms Inwood and the City of Mandurah approached the school about being involved, they eagerly accepted.
“We consider ourselves an important part of the Lakelands community, and so it’s great to be involved in a project like this” Mr Gratton said.
Ms Inwood’s mural is part of a larger project of developing an arts and culture program for the Lakelands community, particularly in the new community centre, which is yet to be completed.
