Regional NSW has been enlisted in the nationwide Operation ROAM this morning to help flush out 19 wanted men - at least eight of whom have direct criminal links to the state.
The fugitives’ wrap sheets range from alleged drug offences, brutal assaults and crimes against children, to skipping bail or court in the face of serious allegations.
Crime Stoppers Australia chairman Bryan Roach said the nationwide hunt will be rolled out over the next two weeks with a $1000 reward for any information which leads to an arrest.
“We urge people to visit fugitivehunt.com.au to see whether they recognise a face and report anything they know about them to Crime Stoppers,” Mr Roach said.
“The police can’t be everywhere at once and the information provided by the public could be the missing piece of the puzzle the police need to catch these fugitives.”
Three of the Operation ROAM targets have warrants out in NSW.
Another five have direct links to locations or contacts within the state.
Mr Roach said Crime Stoppers had achieved considerable results during similar campaigns, and was confident similar results would be achieved over the next two weeks.
“Finding these fugitives requires a whole-of-community response,” he said.
“Some of these fugitives may have crossed state-lines, so it is imperative that all Australians keep a look out for those on this year’s list.”
Mr Roach said people should report any sightings or information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at crimestoppers.com.au.
He said not to approach suspected fugitives under any circumstances
