A man who paid $5000 for a utility vehicle worth $24,000 he suspected was stolen was fined $1800 in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday for receiving.
Gerrard Mathew Lupton pleaded guilty to the offence which happened in April, 2014.
The court heard the Toyota Hilux, which belonged to Western Power, had been stolen from Barragup previously.
Lupton said he suspected the vehicle may have been stolen when he paid for it, but took possession anyway.
As well as the fine, Lupton was ordered to pay court costs of $88.50.
Magistrate Vivien Edwards issued an order for return of the stolen property.
