The state’s largest community art project, WALGA’s Banners on the Terrace, will include a piece by local students from Living Waters Lutheran College this year.

The school’s banner was picked to go to the annual event, which includes submissions from over 80 local governments, after it won the people’s choice award at the Stretch Art festival.
Teacher Carla Stubenrauch worked with students to create a designed based on their hometown.
“The students wanted to create a design that depicted the hidden gems of Mandurah through its beautiful, vibrant sunsets to the unique marine life hidden beneath the ocean,” Ms Stubenraunch said.
Artist Robert Ewing worked with community groups and schools to seek out a banner to represent Mandurah.
He said every group who participated created something unique and exciting that told their own story of Mandurah.
Deputy Mayor Darren Lee was proud to see Mandurah showcased for all to enjoy as part of Banners in the Terrace.
“This is an opportunity to present Mandurah’s historic features by using bold colours and patterns that will inspire visitors who see the banner in Perth to come down and find out more about the area,” Mr Lee said.
The banners will be on display in St. George’s Terrace from July 24 to August 6, with winners announced at the Local Government Convention on August 5.
