New Zealand-based professional free rider Alycia Burton will be mentoring youngsters and demonstrating her jaw-dropping abilities at the Pinjarra Horse and Pony Club this month.
The equestrian celebrity, known for her gravity-defying feats on horseback, will hold a number of clinics and private lessons at the club over a nine-day span from June 24 to July 3.
Burton is considered a celebrity in the sport, boasting more than 57,000 likes on her Facebook page and a huge following on her Youtube channel.
She was approached by the club who went out on a whim and emailed Burton asking if she would be interested in making an appearance.
The club said the positive response they received overwhelmed them.
“We just sent Alycia an email and we didn’t really expect too much to be honest,” club secretary Shenae Tilbee said.
“But Alycia said she was really keen on it and would love to hold a demonstration and some clinics – we were really shocked.”
The club’s success in securing the event prompted other associations to get in touch with Burton, who will now be doing demonstrations in the eastern states after her Pinjarra show.
Tilbee said the event would be an unprecedented first-class showing from a high-profile rider.
“It’s a really big thing for someone like Alycia to come to our local club and do so many shows and lessons,” she said.
“We really appreciate how eager and cooperative she’s been and can’t wait to see her perform.”
Clinics will be run over the weekend of June 24 – 26 and the following weekend of July 1 – 3.
Burton will hold private lessons during the week in between the clinics and will perform a full demonstration on June 24 at 4.30pm.
