AFTER an injury-plagued start to his career, luckless Fremantle Dockers forward Michael Apeness looks like to return through Peel Thunder this weekend.
The 200cm key forward is listed as a test in this week’s injury list, with Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber anticipating Apeness to be ready for Peel Thunder selection this week.
“Michael’s had a really long recovery but he’s on his way back,” Weber told fremantlefc.com.au
“He’s trained well this week and we look forward to getting him on the selection table for this weekend.”
Apeness was taken with pick 17 in the 2013 national draft, but has played just the two games for the Dockers after injuries derailed the initial stages of his career.
In those two games Apeness showed an aggressive presence in the forward line, making an impact despite getting a low number of possessions.
Fremantle fans have been eager to see him impact their struggling forward line, but will most likely see him in action for the Thunder first.
Apeness could be another tall target for the Thunder, who already boast Fremantle players Tanner Smith and Jack Hannath in the forward line.
The Thunder play West Perth at HBF Arena this Saturday.
