YOUNG talent was on show last Friday, for the Masterpieces 2K16 Youth Art Competition.

The competition received 33 entries across the three age categories, which was the highest participation rate in its four years.
Local youth were asked to submit works including paintings, urban art, drawings, sculptures or digital media.
Only one entry was allowed per person, though it was free to submit work, and it had to have been completed in the last year.
Mark Liston won the 13-15 years category with his piece, “Menagerie”, with Ethan Dodson’s “Disgruntled, skateboarding chickens” in second.
In the 16-17 years category, Jessica Tomlinson won with her artwork, “Ungulate Princess”, and in second, Courtney Cummins’ “Frida”.
“Lifeline”, by Grace Dennis was the winning piece in the 18-25 years category, with “Memorial” by Jenna Smith as runner-up.
Mark’s artwork, “Menagerie”, was chosen as the City of Mandurah Youth Development Acquisition.
CASM open Wednesdays to Sundays noon until 4pm.
For the first time participants will be giving free artist’s talks, to explain their work and techniques, at CASM on Sunday, May 15 at 2.30pm.
The Masterpieces 2K16 exhibition closes on May 15 at 4pm, after the artist talks.
