“Over the last year I received a number of complaints about really bad odours from residents who live in North Mandurah including Lakelands, Meadow Springs and Madora Bay,” Mr Templeman said.
“Some residents claim it had become so bad they couldn’t open their windows or let their children play outside.
Mr Templeman requested the odour complaints be investigated by the DER.
“DER staff have informed me they appreciate complaints about odours, given residents are able to provide lot of details such as time of day, weather conditions and type of odour.
“These complaints are especially helpful when DER patrols are in the area as they can respond in real time.”
Reports can be made by calling 1300 784 782 or use the online reporting form at
der.wa.gov.au/your-environment/reporting-pollution/report-pollution-form or email david.templeman@mp.wa.gov.au
The DER will undertake scientific survey in April (subject to weather conditions) of air samples which could lead to better analysis of the odours.
Mr Templeman said he strongly recommended people who were concerned about this issue or experienced odour problems to report this to the DER number or online.
