TWO firefighters involved in the Meelon bushfire were taken to Peel Health Campus yesterday after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The firefighters were involved in protecting properties in the Meelon area, and complained of feeling ill.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics treated the men at the scene, and decided to take them to Peel Health Campus for treatment.
"The two guys were treated at the scene, and we decided to send them to the hospital just to make sure it didn't developed into anything more serious," the spokesperson said.
"They were stable, but we didn't want to risk it, obviously."
The men, aged in their 20s and 30s respectively, were discharged after a couple of hours, according to a Peel Health Campus spokesperson.
