A LOCAL entrepreneur is hoping smart-phone users in Mandurah and across the world will “download the planet to their pockets” by installing his new app Plan-Et.
Billed as a new way for people to take the planning out of spur-of-the-moment decisions, the app aims to help people find where to eat, shop, find a job and a place to sleep in seconds.
Developer Daniel Goodin said he thought of the idea to help his mates who were complaining there was nothing to do in Mandurah.
“There’s so much stuff going on in our city, so many great things, but when you’re sitting on your couch you don’t always know about them,” he said.
“You can choose how much you want to spend then filter by your mood – for example if you’re hungry, bored, feeling romantic – or if you have kids you can select their age, and Plan-Et will come up with ideas about what to do.”
He said a series of icons pop up on the screen giving options for restaurants, entertainment, and sales that are happening within a distance chosen by the Plan-et user.
“I hope I can make a difference in people’s lives by giving ideas to those who are looking for something to do and at the same time help businesses to thrive by giving them direct access to new audiences,” Mr Goodin said.
After a fundraising campaign last yeat, Mr Goodin said he now had 15 investors on board because of the idea’s ability to influence how customers make decisions about how to spend their time and money.
“I want people who are sitting on the couch because they’re unsure of what’s on to get out and enjoy Mandurah,” he said.
