Boddington has won big with the town receiving $66,000 in Lotterywest grants for its Rural Living Expo and the soon to be started Visitor and Interpretation Centre.
The Hot FM expo is a celebration of the rural lifestyle in Western Australia and will take place on March 12.
Event manager Tahnee Forbes said without this type of funding community events struggled to grow so the committee was very excited and relieved the funding had been awarded to the event.
“Events like these are so important for small towns in WA, they are not only an economic driver but also allow rural communities to celebrate their lifestyle choices,” she said.
Boddington shire chief Chris Littlemore said in addition to the support for the Hot FM Rural Living Expo, the Shire of Boddington had received notification from Lotterywest that its application for the development of the towns’ community stories was also a winner.
The stories were used to create Boddington’s new interpretive centre.
“$46,000 will allow the Shire to provide high quality foundations which will underpin this project from the start.” he said.
“A community meeting saw over 50 residents come together to discuss the centre, the best numbers we have had at a community meeting in years.”
