Photographs have emerged of a giant WA lizard munching down on a venomous tiger snake in the state's South West.

Department of Parks and Wildlife officer Janine Liddelow was driving north of Walpole late last year, when she noticed a southern heath monitor eating something.
"The first thing I did was try to dodge it and not run it down," she laughed.
"Then I saw this snake thrashing about in its mouth and realised it was a tiger snake.
"I've been doing this for 20 years and I've never seen this and none of my colleagues have either. It undoubtedly happens, but to see it happen at the exact moment was pretty rare."
Ms Liddelow said when it came to a battle between the snake and the reptile; the tiger snake didn't stand a chance, as southern heath monitors were resistant to the venom.
She said as the reptile could grow up to 1.5 metres long, there weren't too many animals willing to tackle it.
"I've seen them eat rabbits, small mammals... it's not fussy what it eats," she said.
"It will eat anything it can get its claws on.
"But when it's fully grown not much will tackle it...maybe a few wedgies [wedge-tail eagles] when they are small, but not much else."
