A MANDURAH Catholic College student is putting her locks on the line to raise money for leukaemia research.
Fifteen-year-old Lily Archer has never had short hair, but decided last year to shave her head for the World’s Greatest Shave, a Leukaemia Foundation fundraiser.
“Last year I saw the ads on TV and thought maybe it’s a good idea, but I needed more time,” she said.
“My hair has been long for ages and I decided it had to go.”
Lily’s mother Deborah Archer, who shaved her head three times for the World’s Greatest Shave after her mother died of leukaemia 30 years ago, said she was proud of her daughter.
“She’s been growing her hair her entire life, and she can sit on it,” Ms Archer said.
“She’s put it out there and she’s raising as much money as she can.”
Lily said she would auction off the right to cut off her ponytail, which she would then donate so it could be made into wigs for cancer patients.
