In its fourth year the Reach Out Drop in Centre event is providing an opportunity not just for the homeless to grab a bite to eat but for socially isolated residents to get together and enjoy Christmas day with others.
Coordinator Nikki Wise said the idea came about when she realised there were senior community members who had nobody to spend Christmas with.
“No one did anything so we decided to celebrate at the rotunda with a sausage sizzle, presents and ham,” she said.
Ms Wise said the community helped make the lunch happen with their gifts and food donations.
"We have great sponsors who help us to provide free meals all year round, we serve approximately 150 meals per week," she said.
Volunteer Benno Fagan said he enjoyed helping out at the centre and making a difference.
“It’s a great environment and atmosphere and the Christmas lunch is always well attended which is great to see,” he said.
Ms Wise said this year they were expecting 200 people which had grown from 96 in the event’s first year.
“We are asking if people can call to book a spot this year on 0434 034 427,” she said.
The group will gather at the Mandurah foreshore rotunda, opposite Chicken Treat from 11am to 2pm on Christmas Day, Friday December 25.
