A BAG of six goals for Brad Holmes helped guide South Mandurah to victory against Waroona in the Peel Football League grand final on Sunday.
Waroona led by six points at half time before a five-goal third-quarter blitz by South Mandurah saw them lead by 20 points heading into the last quarter.
The quarter proved the difference with South Mandurah holding on to win by 19 points, 13.6 (84) to 10.5 (65).
The game was marred by violence when a brawl broke out in the crowd during the last quarter spilling onto the ground.
Mandurah response teams, including detectives and traffic officers were deployed to the incident, with up to 20 police officers in attendance at the scene.
The brawl didn’t dampen the excitement of the South Mandurah players with the club’s first premiership win since 2008.
South Mandurah’s Brent Johnson was awarded the best on ground medal.
The bag of six goals took Holmes’ season total to 67 with John Bennell chipping in with two of his own.
It was a disappointing result for South Mandurah in the Reserves and Colts with Halls Head winning both.
In a low scoring game Halls Head came away with a 25-point win, 7.13 (55) to 4.7 (31), after trailing by one-point at half time.
In the Colts, Halls Head ran away with the game in the third quarter holding South Mandurah goalless to lead by 28 points heading into the last quarter.
The final margin was 29 points, 9.10 (64) to 5.5 (35).
